February 13, 2016 - Sessions on Music Composition Software and Electronic Keyboards
Hosted by Phil Enge at 1st Presbyterian Church, 2000 E. College Ave. Normal, 10:00 a.m., Rob Sheldon, Band Editor for Alfred Publishing, will give a program on the use of Sebelius Composition Software then discuss on trends in the music publishing industry.
At 1:00 p.m. will be a representative Kawai demonstrating how to use an electronic keyboard, followed by discussion of trends in accoustical vs. electronic piano sales. Following the session will have a demonstration the Schantz/Buzard organ at First Presbyterian and a chance to play. (Get the program poster here)

February 16, 2016 - James O'Donnell in recital
Music at St. Chrysostom’s and the Chicago Chapter of the American Guild of Organists are proud to co-sponsor James O’Donnell in recital on St.Chrysostom’s 24-stop, 32-rank Fisk organ in works by Bach, Saint-Saëns, and Schuman.
In addition to a full schedule of daily choral services at Westminster Abbey and directing music for services attended by royalty and world dignitaries, O'Donnell is music director of St. James' Baroque and visiting professor of Organ and of Choral Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music.
The free recital will be given at St. Chrysostom's Episcopal Church, 1424 N. Dearborn Parkway, Chicago at 7:30 p.m.

February 2016 - Lenten recitals
First Presbyterian Church of Urbana is proud to present several local musicians in a series of weekday recitals during Lent. These recitals will take place on Wednesdays from 12:10-12:50 p.m. in First Presbyterian’s sanctuary at 602 W. Green Street, Urbana, and showcase the church’s collection of keyboard instruments. These include the Marilyn Pflederer Zimmerman organ, a two-manual mechanical-action pipe organ built in 1997 by the Martin Ott Organ Company of St. Louis, a Steinway Model B grand piano, and a 2008 Zuckerman Flemish double harpsichord.

The first recital, on February 17, will feature Ray Wiggs, who is organist at First United Methodist Church of Champaign.
A week later, on February 24, First Presbyterian’s Director of Music Jonathan Young in a program of organ and harpsichord music.
March 2, Samir Golescu, organist at University Place Christian Church, will present a recital of piano works.
March 9, Kevin Chunko, organist at St. John Lutheran in Bloomington.
March 16 Yohei Endo, Director of Music at McKinley Presbyterian Church, will take the bench.

All recitals are open to the public with freewill offering at the door.

March 18, 2016 - Mark Gifford, Wurlitzer Pipe Organ (With a screening of King of Kings)
Tickets $5, $3 senior (55 and older) are available now. Our chapter and Buzard Pipe Organ Builders will present this special concert with guest artist Mark Gifford, who will accompany the silent film, lead a sing-a-long, and play songs from the golden age of the theatre organ. At the Virginia Theater, Champaign at 7:30 p.m.

June 19-23, 2016 - AGO National Convention
This year the National Convention of the AGO will be held in Houston, June 19-23. More information is available www.agohouston.com.
Linda Buzard will be giving a workshop and Jonathan Young will present a paper on French Tremulants.
